Brandon Fu
Brandon Fu is a rising saxophonist in the Boston and New York City areas. Originally from Philadelphia, he now resides in Weston, Massachusetts and attends school at Columbia University.
Brandon has been selected for various leading ensembles across the state and country, including but not limited to Carnegie Hall's National Youth Orchestra (NYO) Jazz (2025), the New England Conservatory's YJO (2022-25), and MMEA's All-State and All-District Ensembles (2022-25). His excellence is best recognized at the national level through NYO Jazz under the direction of Sean Jones and featuring GRAMMY-winning vocalist/educator Luciana Souza, and at the state level through his selection as the top jazz tenor saxophonist in Massachusetts by MMEA Senior District and All-State.
An articulate speaker, Brandon was chosen as a TEDx speaker, where he delivered an engaging talk on "Playing Jazz in Your Everyday Life." Additional accolades include being a Young Arts National Winner in both 2024 and 2025 and an NPR From the Top National Finalist/featured performer in 2024 and 2025, playing alongside visionaries such as Peter Dugan and Paquito D'Rivera.
Brandon was featured in the 2022, ‘23, and ‘25 Massachusetts Northeast District festivals and the 2022 and ‘25 Massachusetts All State festivals, where he performed under the direction of bandleaders such as Ayn Inserto, Christine Fawson, Jeff Leonard, Jerry Sabatini, and Brian Thomas. He has studied under jazz saxophonists Tim Lin, Mike Tucker, and Jeff Harrington. In 2023 and ‘24, Brandon was the National YoungArts Award winner for jazz saxophone. His musical journey has also taken him abroad; Brandon has performed in organized concerts in Lisbon, Porto, Shanghai, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Manaus, Santo Domingo, and Santiago.
In 2026, Brandon moved to New York City, where he has quickly established himself as one of the fastest rising tenor saxophonists. He plays a Yamaha Custom 82z tenor saxophone, Otto Link 1950s No USA Tone Master mouthpiece, and D’Addario reeds.
